The Valais Blacknose is widely regarded as the world's cutest sheep — and it's easy to see why. With their distinctive jet-black faces, spiral horns, and impossibly fluffy white wool coats, they look more like a stuffed animal than a farm animal.
Originating in the Valais region of Switzerland, this ancient breed has been prized for centuries for its dual-purpose wool and meat qualities, as well as its remarkably gentle, curious temperament. They are known to seek out human interaction and make exceptional companions.
Valais Blacknose sheep remain exceptionally rare in the United States. At Great Lakes Valais, we are proud to be among a small number of dedicated breeders working to establish this extraordinary breed in the Midwest.
